The Chandler Coalition on Youth Substance Abuse

The Chandler Coalition on Youth Substance Abuse (CCYSA), founded by ICAN in 2005, is made up of Chandler youth, parents and city officials who work to educate the community about the dangers of substance abuse. Education, shoulder tappings, signage counting, and party patrol are all part of the CCYSA’s mission to reduce substance abuse among Chandler youth.

The CCYSA also works diligently to provide training resources for our community. Coalition members have created training opportunities with local schools, first responders, police officers, and the fire department. Teens and parents involved with ICAN and the Mayor’s Youth Commission carry out the essential social marketing and training activities that mobilize the community to take action against substance abuse.

Those who begin drinking before age 15 are four times more likely to develop alcoholism than those who begin at age 21.
