UPDATE: ICAN Youth Fundraiser for New Facility Challenges Staff to “Kiss the Pig”

At the end of March, ICAN youth began participating in a change collection fundraising competition that wrapped up yesterday and had ICAN staff “Kiss the Pig.” Each youth color group (separated by grade) chose the following staff to “Kiss the Pig” if they reached their respective $100 goals to support the construction costs of the new ICAN Lon E. Hoeye Youth Center:

Yellow (Grades K-1): Shelby, Director of Resource Development
White (Grades 2-3): Meghann, Prevention Specialist Lead
Orange (Grades 4-5): Heidi, Youth Program Manager
Green/Purple (Grades 6-12): Alfredo, Prevention Specialist
Overall $400+ Goal:  Becky, CEO/John, Director of Programs

Yesterday, Charlotte the potbelly pig (courtesy of Carter’s Farm Mobile Petting Zoo), came back to ICAN prepared to smooch with the staff. Each color group was announced with their total, and in the end all color groups met their fundraising goals of $100/each and $400/overall, meaning each staff had to pucker up for Charlotte. The youth cheered each time and all staff cringed after the close encounter with Charlotte (besides John and Alfredo who seemed to enjoy the kiss!).
Director of Resource Development, Shelby, shared her afterthoughts, “Kissing Charlotte was not an ideal ending personally, but the fact that the youth were able to raise this amount through their own change, friends, and family shows how much they value attending ICAN!” Here are a few photo highlights:
