Hill Academy at ICAN

Hill Academy at ICAN

Formed as a partnership between the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) and ICAN as a satellite location for Chief Hill Learning Academy, Hill Academy at ICAN is a non-traditional school for students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of high school. The school follows the CUSD schedule and uses a web-based curricula. School hours occur during the day at the ICAN Lon E. Hoeye Youth Center before ICAN’s regular after-school programming. Students are able to graduate from Hill Academy at ICAN and the school was formed to serve new students who have moved out of CUSD or dropped out of a CUSD school. The creation of the school was to help decrease the number of students who are classified as “dropped out” of CUSD in the 85225 zip code.

Programs, like Hill Academy, make graduation even more possible

More young people were completing high school. In 2005, 88 percent of young adults had finished high school compared with 84 percent in 1980.
